Electric or plug-in hybrid?

MG S6 EV vs MG HS

It comes down to charging, not to the cars. If the driver can charge reliably, the S6 EV is cheaper to run and cheaper to be taxed on. If charging will be occasional, the HS is the better car precisely because it does not depend on it.

Which should you take?

Be honest about the charging before you look at the numbers, because the numbers assume it. An electric car that a driver cannot charge at home or at work is a worse car than a plug-in hybrid they also never plug in, the hybrid just drives on, while the EV becomes a planning exercise. Where the charging is genuinely sorted, the S6 EV wins on running cost, on tax and on the 674-litre boot.

How to read these listings

Prices: Monthly rentals shown are guide prices and exclude VAT unless labelled otherwise. They are indicative “from” figures quoted against a 12-month term at the mileage allowance shown for the vehicle, and they move with the exact variant, the mileage, the initial rental and the outcome of underwriting. Last reviewed 1 September 2026. We confirm your actual monthly rental, and what it includes, in writing before anything is agreed.

Images: Vehicle images are computer-generated illustrations of a representative example, not photographs of the vehicle supplied. Exact trim, colour, body length, roof height and equipment vary by specification.

Availability: Listings show the vehicles we can supply, not stock held on site. Specific variants, trim levels, body conversions and delivery dates depend on factory lead times and availability at the time you order, and some vehicles are build-to-order. Nothing is reserved for your business until we confirm it in writing. If we cannot get the exact vehicle you have asked for, we will tell you and set out the closest alternative we can. Delivery is to business addresses in England and Wales, and we confirm the arrangements, the timing and any delivery cost on your quote.

Questions

Electric or plug-in hybrid?

It comes down to charging, not to the cars. If the driver can charge reliably, the S6 EV is cheaper to run and cheaper to be taxed on. If charging will be occasional, the HS is the better car precisely because it does not depend on it.

Which is cheaper, the S6 EV or the HS?

On our guide rates the HS is the cheaper of the two, at £545 a month excluding VAT against £720. Both are on a 12-month agreement. The cheaper monthly figure is not the same as the cheaper decision, see the verdict on this page.

Can I see both prices in writing before I decide?

Yes. Ask for both and we will quote both, on the term and mileage you actually need. There is no obligation and we would rather you compared them properly than guessed from a guide price.

What does your business need?

Vehicle type
Can you supply any make or model?

The vehicles on our stock list are the ones we hold a rate for, so they are the quickest to quote. Anything else we source to order, which takes longer and is priced individually, so ask and we will tell you what it costs. Every figure on this site is a guide price: availability and factory lead times move, and we confirm the exact vehicle, term, mileage and monthly rental in writing before anything is agreed. If we cannot get what you have asked for, we will say so.
