Inside the Middleway, every day
Electrician van leasing in Birmingham
For a Birmingham electrician the emissions standard of the van matters more than the monthly rental. The Clean Air Zone inside the A4540 Middleway charges non-compliant vans £8 a day, 24 hours a day, and a domestic call-out round crosses it most working days. A compliant van removes that charge entirely.
Get my quote →Why this is different here
Electricians are a call-out trade, which means the van is inside the zone on most working days rather than occasionally. At £8 a day that is roughly £2,000 across a working year, on a van whose monthly rental is a few hundred pounds. Very few decisions in a small business have that shape, where a specification detail outweighs the headline price, and it is why choosing on rental alone is the expensive mistake here.
What that means for the van
- A Euro 6 diesel or Euro 4 petrol van is not charged in the zone. Every van on our range is supplied new, so this is not a question you have to research.
- Cable drums, conduit and a stepladder set the load length before payload does. A small van fits the parking; a medium van fits the 3m lengths.
- Tool theft is the other Birmingham cost. Racking that locks and a van that is not left loaded overnight matter more than any alarm.
- City-centre parking favours the smaller van on a domestic round. If the work is commercial fit-out, the calculation reverses.
The Birmingham charges in full
Zone boundaries, the daily charge and the emissions standard a van has to meet are set out on the Birmingham page, with the sources. They change, so check a specific registration on the GOV.UK clean air zone guidance before relying on any of it.
The vans we supply

How to read these listings
Prices: Monthly rentals shown are guide prices and exclude VAT unless labelled otherwise. They are indicative “from” figures quoted against a 12-month term at the mileage allowance shown for the vehicle, and they move with the exact variant, the mileage, the initial rental and the outcome of underwriting. Last reviewed 1 September 2026. We confirm your actual monthly rental, and what it includes, in writing before anything is agreed.
Images: Vehicle images are computer-generated illustrations of a representative example, not photographs of the vehicle supplied. Exact trim, colour, body length, roof height and equipment vary by specification.
Availability: Listings show the vehicles we can supply, not stock held on site. Specific variants, trim levels, body conversions and delivery dates depend on factory lead times and availability at the time you order, and some vehicles are build-to-order. Nothing is reserved for your business until we confirm it in writing. If we cannot get the exact vehicle you have asked for, we will tell you and set out the closest alternative we can. Delivery is to business addresses in England and Wales, and we confirm the arrangements, the timing and any delivery cost on your quote.

Questions
Can a Birmingham business lease a van from FleetMe?
For a Birmingham electrician the emissions standard of the van matters more than the monthly rental. The Clean Air Zone inside the A4540 Middleway charges non-compliant vans £8 a day, 24 hours a day, and a domestic call-out round crosses it most working days. A compliant van removes that charge entirely. We deliver to your business address across England and Wales, there is no depot or counter to visit.
Which vehicles do you supply?
Three panel vans (small, medium and large) plus company cars, all supplied new on agreements of up to 12 months. Lutons, tippers, dropsides, crew cabs and pickups are sourced to order and quoted individually. The stock list has every rate.
Who can take business contract hire?
Limited companies and LLPs. Sole traders take vehicle hire on the same vehicles and the same terms, we never call that route leasing. Private individuals hiring for personal use are not supplied.
