Depot run plus local round

UPS van leasing

A delivery company that is a limited company or LLP leases a van from FleetMe on business contract hire over terms up to 12 months. Work combining a depot run with a local round covers far more annual distance than the round alone suggests, and the declared mileage has to include both. Individuals and sole traders take hire of up to 12 months. FleetMe is not connected to UPS.

Is FleetMe part of UPS?
FleetMe is a vehicle leasing company. We are not connected to, endorsed by or a supplier to UPS, and we do not speak for them. Their vehicle requirements, rates and contract terms are theirs to set, so check those with UPS directly.

Plenty of parcel operations are two jobs in one vehicle: a fast run to or from a hub at each end of the day, and a delivery round in between. People price the round, forget the run, and the excess mileage charge finds them in year two.

Count the depot run, not just the round

A forty mile leg to the hub in the morning and forty back in the evening is eighty miles before a single parcel is delivered. Across a five day week that is four hundred miles, and across a working year it is comfortably past twenty thousand on its own. Add the round and the real figure can be double what the round alone would suggest. Work it out and declare it. Under-declaring does not save money, it defers the cost to an excess charge at a rate fixed in the agreement, and by then the number is not open to discussion.

Motorway miles and stop-start miles wear differently

A vehicle doing half its distance at a steady speed and half in traffic sits between two maintenance profiles. The motorway portion piles on distance with relatively little wear, which flatters the odometer. The delivery portion does the opposite. The practical result is a van that reaches a high mileage figure faster than its condition suggests, and mileage is what the agreement is priced on. That points towards a higher band and a shorter term rather than the other way round.

Early starts, long days, and specifying for the driver

A vehicle doing twelve hour days from an early start is a workplace as much as a tool. Seat comfort, heating that warms up quickly, decent lights and cruise control for the trunk leg are not luxuries on this pattern, and a driver who is comfortable is a driver who stays. These options cost a little each month and are difficult to add afterwards, because you are choosing from how the lease vehicle was ordered. Decide them at quote stage.

What underwriting looks at

A lease of up to 12 months is a longer commitment than a short-term hire, and underwriting looks at the business, its directors and whether the monthly rental is comfortably affordable, not at the round you have been offered. A courier company with a clean payment record behind it gets the most straightforward answer. None of that is a promise of approval, and we will tell you quickly if we cannot help.

The vans we supply for this work

Small, medium and large. Which one fits depends on the round (drop density, parcel size and where you are loading) and that is a conversation, not a filter. Every figure is read from our rate sheet.

Prices are guide figures ex VAT, pictures are illustrations, and nothing here is stock standing on a forecourt. What that means →

How to read these listings

Prices: Monthly rentals shown are guide prices and exclude VAT unless labelled otherwise. They are indicative “from” figures quoted against a 12-month term at the mileage allowance shown for the vehicle, and they move with the exact variant, the mileage, the initial rental and the outcome of underwriting. Last reviewed 1 September 2026. We confirm your actual monthly rental, and what it includes, in writing before anything is agreed.

Images: Vehicle images are computer-generated illustrations of a representative example, not photographs of the vehicle supplied. Exact trim, colour, body length, roof height and equipment vary by specification.

Availability: Listings show the vehicles we can supply, not stock held on site. Specific variants, trim levels, body conversions and delivery dates depend on factory lead times and availability at the time you order, and some vehicles are build-to-order. Nothing is reserved for your business until we confirm it in writing. If we cannot get the exact vehicle you have asked for, we will tell you and set out the closest alternative we can. Delivery is to business addresses in England and Wales, and we confirm the arrangements, the timing and any delivery cost on your quote.

Delivering as a self-employed driver?

You are covered. We supply sole traders too, over terms up to 12 months. You do not need to incorporate first and you do not need filed accounts.

Worth checking before you enquire: the allowance is 2,000 miles a month. Multi-drop rounds often run well past that, and mileage over the allowance is charged, so tell us your weekly mileage and we will be straight with you about whether it works.

What does the round need?

Vehicle type
Can you supply any make or model?

The vehicles on our stock list are the ones we hold a rate for, so they are the quickest to quote. Anything else we source to order, which takes longer and is priced individually, so ask and we will tell you what it costs. Every figure on this site is a guide price: availability and factory lead times move, and we confirm the exact vehicle, term, mileage and monthly rental in writing before anything is agreed. If we cannot get what you have asked for, we will say so.

Common questions

Is FleetMe connected to UPS?

No. We are not connected to, endorsed by or a supplier to UPS. We lease vans to delivery companies regardless of who they carry for, and their requirements are theirs to confirm with you.

What mileage band should I choose if I do a hub run as well?

Add the hub legs to the round before you choose. A short daily run to a depot adds thousands of miles a year by itself, and it is the part most often left out of the figure people declare.

What does excess mileage actually cost?

It is a pence-per-mile rate set in your agreement, and we confirm it in writing before you sign rather than leaving you to find it later. Coming in under your allowance does not normally generate a refund, so the aim is a realistic figure with a modest contingency, not a defensive over-buy.

Can I lease if I am self-employed?

No. Business contract hire is for limited companies and LLPs. As an individual or sole trader the product is vehicle hire of up to 12 months.
